: My TMJD Story

: It has taken me 13 dentists, general dentists, periodondists, root canal specialists, etc etc. The pain that was unbearable, to find my dream team. The 13th dentist told me I had TMJ and wrote me off to another dentist. At that point, in April of 2003 I was to the point of not being able to speak to anyone other then customers. My husband and I are self employed, he blows glass, and I create jewelry. I couldn’t speak with my friends, each word; each mouth movement had to be saved for anyone that would walk into our gallery. I was eating only soft food, had given up being to use a straw, my life was miserable, the pain unbelievable. The beginning of May 2003, I had the following symptoms: Fullness in right ear, Ringing in the ear, Pain in the ear,
: Pain, right side of my face, Numbness right side of face, running down jaw line to right corner of lip.
: Drooling, Shoulder/neck pain,
: Dizziness,Vertigo – queasy stomach when that happens, not an upset stomach, just queasy.
: Eye Pain, Sensitive to light.
: Sensitive to noise,
: Droopy right eye lid,
: Headaches, forehead, all over head,
: sinus headaches,
: referred tooth pain, back upper right, sometimes spreading to lower back teeth,
: lymph feeling swollen,
: Crackling sound in ear,
: Crackling sound in neck,
: Watery eye – right one only, right eye blood shot, Problems with vision in right eye,
: temple area pain,
: Soft food diet,
: Jitters – controlled by no longer taking Tylenol, Sensitive hair, hurt to touch.
: Wrinkles in my face, on the right side, please note,
: Shortness of breath,
: Chest Pains,
: Constipation
: No energy.
: In May, I was to the point of begging the universe to please end my life. I thought I had several things wrong with me. Heart problem, lung problem, a brain tumor, you name it. I am currently completely symptom free, excluding exhaustion.. He was able to do this without drugs, without surgery. I have been given my life back. I would also like to say that he stressed the importance that I see a chiropractor, which I am doing as well. I hope my brief story helps those also dealing with the effects of TMJD. Wondering how you were going to wake up, what symptoms will I have today? All those fears are gone. I can sleep, I can laugh, I can giggle. I can eat real food, ah, a salad, oh to be able to drink from a straw again, the simple things. Please, hang in there, do not listen to surgeons, listen to your gut, listen to that small voice inside of you. Interview your potential dentist that is going be helping you. If they do not have a listening ear, turn heal and walk out! Thank you,
Diane, I was interested in your location and exactly how you were helped and by whom. I have a TMJ problem only because dentists cannot get my bite straight after Bells Palsy (six months of left side facial paralysis) When the high spot on the right is leveled, I have about 5 days of a decent bite but then it shifts to the left. This goes back and forth and is quite useless. I have many of your symptoms. Were you given a splint, was it mandibular, what was the rate that you were seen and for how long. I'm already seeing a great chiropractor, just need the dentist. if you can clarify my situation I would be very appreciative. Tony.
