: Has anyone had an ear infection bad enough to cause pain in the gum area in your mouth. I don't know if this is normal or is something else going on. The doctor said my glands were swollen bad down my neck. My jaw and in front of my ear is sore and sensitive. It doesn't hurt all the time mostly when i lay down or cool air hits my ear. It is like a shooting pain in the nerves under the teeth. Comes and goes. Thank you.

Bizarre referral pains are common with tmj and more often than not involve the ear(s). Is it referring to the nerves under your lower teeth? What's going on with those teeth? Any root canals, amalgam or other materials that you're sensitive too. Do you know about cavitation? Listen to your body--your immune system is fighting something which means that it's working. Have you had any accidents or injuries which may have brought this on? Are you near Chicago? I know of a doctor and dentist there (Dr. Mercola).
