Donation Mixup and Fellowship News

In a recent conversation, a TMJ Patient brought to our attention that he had made a donation to JJAMD for the Milton and Renée Glass Family TMJD Fellowship at Forsyth. He wondered why JJAMD had not acknowledged his donation.

GOOD NEWS: In the very short time since the implementation of our independent Fellowship in 2005, it has created a lot of enthusiastic support,

IBS Tales Hope Award

The TMJOINTS Website is a recipient of an IBS Tales Hope Award
The IBS Tales Hope Awards 2007 are currently being presented to websites that offer positive support and encouragement to anyone suffering from a chronic medical problem. In particular, the awards recognise websites that:

JJAMD promotes "Jaw Joints - TMJ Awareness©" throughout the year. In addition, we celebrate each month of November as "Jaw Joints - TMJ Awareness Month©" as introduced in 1997 by Congressman Barney Frank in the Congress of the United States.

The 1996 NIH Technology Assessment Conference [TAC] synthesizes The TMJ Dilemma and succinctly explains why JJAMD is unable to give specific medical/dental advice or referrals of any kind. The Conference report noted the absence of any universally accepted scientifically proven treatments and concluded that future advances in diagnosis and treatment requires collaboration of multidisciplinary fields involving basic and applied science and practice. The conference concluded "a Consensus must be developed regarding the professional expertise needed to diagnosis and treat these serious health problems." Here in 2002, there is still no significant improvement in this situation. But we are happy to report that there are some visible signs of positive changes happening, which is reported out on this website under: "Current News."

Until such time as TMJ becomes an acknowledged discipline, science, and recognized medical/dental specialty for the diagnosis and treatment of TMJ……..

JJAMD WILL CONTINUE TO BE UNABLE TO GIVE PATIENTS SPECIFIC MEDICAL/DENTAL ADVICE OR REFERRALS OF ANY KIND
