Hi! We have similiar problems. I was suffering form constant muscle spasms on the left side of my jaw. I went to every Doctor imaginable. My dentist said it was TMJ and referred me to a Oral surgeon. He agreed it was TMJ and had me go through Physical Therapy prior to surgery-which I never let him schedule. My Family Doctor said it was stress related and gave me a Rx for Zoloft. He then referred me to a neurologist who diagnosed me with oromandibular dystonia and gave me a Rx for Valium. I never got better..only worse. I couldn't have a conversation without my jaw muscle spasing which caused my teeth to clench for 30 seconds to one minute. Some days would be so awful I couldn't eat, or I'd have fast spasmswhisch resulted in biting my tongue or cheek over and over all day long. I changed as a person. I became withdrawn and embarrassed and scared to speak to anybody in case it happened in mid sentence. I couldn't chew steak or chicken, I couldn't eat carrots or even brush my teeth without biting my toothbrush. I finally had been referred to a Chiropractor. In just one visit I noticed an improvement. And not one spasm after 2 months of visits. Please call me and I will tell you specifically what they did for me so you can get some relief & be yourself again-pain free!!
